Betty Lou Hyman

Betty Lou Hyman, 85 of Hope Mills, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in her home surrounded by family.

Born June 2, 1938, in Cumberland County, Betty was the daughter of the late Lee Roy Harris and Trulie Ross Harris. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Richard Smith, Jr.; brother, Robert Sidney Harris; and sister Myrtle Gautier.

Betty is survived by her husband, Sterling Hyman; daughter, Pamela Miller and husband James; stepdaughter, Deborah Parker; grandchildren, Christopher, Bethany, Mark, Alora, and Tyler; step grandchildren, Wyndham, Samantha, and Cheyenne; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Owen Harris, Alex Harris, and Thomas Davis; sisters, Helen Furches; special lifelong friends, Dorothy Chason, Doris Anderson, and Sharmaine McLeod; umpteen nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.HarrisHarrisHa

Betty was a lifelong member of Hope Mills Church of God. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and working in her garden, but most importantly, she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all affectionately knew her as “Dangi”.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
