Charles McKinley Parlett, son/father/grandfather/brother/uncle/friend, completed his earthly journey on June 13, 2018, and can now be found fishing in Heaven's waters while swapping tall tales, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and enjoying the company of family and friends who have gone before him.
Chuck was born on February 25, 1955, with spina bifida, a birth defect little understood at that time. Not expected to survive infancy, he defied the odds not only then but for the next sixty-four years, living life with gusto. He graduated from South View High School, Methodist University, taught in the Cumberland County School System, volunteered as a young man with the Cumberland County Rescue Squad, was a member of the Crosse Creek Rifle & Pistol Club, and was an elder in Faithwalk Fellowship Church. He never met a stranger, could talk to anyone about anything, loved his pets, loved his friends, loved NASCAR, hunting, going to the barn to see the horses, being outside, fishing with his brother-in-law, nephews and anyone who would get on the boat, a cold beer (just one) on a hot day, and riding in the golf cart when his son Austen played.
Most of all, Chuck was a loyal and loving family man. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Kathryn Parlett, and his brother, Phillip Parlett. His memory is cherished by 2 daughters, Kristen Landreth & husband Peter of Burlington and Alysen Green & husband James of Swansboro; 2 sons, Austen Parlett of Fayetteville and Matthew Brannen of Raleigh; 6 grandchildren, Lynlee, McKinley, and Adleigh Green, Andrew, Hannah and Nathaniel Landreth; sister, Kathie Lumpkins & husband Danny of Hope Mills; brother, Steve Parlett & wife Lynda of Silva; and mother of his children Evelyn McDonald of Swansboro.
