Mrs. Elizabeth Sessoms Hayes, age 86 of Raleigh (formerly of Grays Creek), passed away peacefully October 29,2020, surrounded by her family.   Born in Cumberland County, she is the daughter of the late Henry and Mamie Lockamy Sessoms.

She is survived by her husband of  61 years, Vernon Holt Hayes; a daughter, Phyllis Hayes Cruz and husband Bobby of Shallotte; two sons, Michael Wayne Hayes and wife Felicia of Kannapolis,  and Jeffrey Scott Hayes and wife Tammy of Raleigh; grand-daughters, Tina Nicole (Nikki) Cruz and  and husband Bill and Elizabeth Rose  Brown and husband Travis all of Hope Mills,  Lindsey Jensen of Stockholm, Sweden; grandsons,  Brady Jensen (Kaitelyn), Landon Jensen all of Raleigh; granddaughter, Lexy Bunn and husband Seth of Raleigh and grandson, Treyson Hayes of Raleigh; great-granddaughters, Mekayla Rivera  (Kyle) of Wilmington, Marteena Rivera and Deja Brown  of Hope Mills,  Mia Rivera of Wilmington, Keindelyn Arnold (Bud), Callie Arnold (Tad),  Isabella Arnold, Zoi Brown, and Brylee Arnold  all of Hope Mills; great-grandson, Tad Jacobs, Jr. of Hope Mills;   a sister, Peggy Brock of Raeford,  and a brother Gene Sessoms of White Lake.

Mrs. Hayes was a long-time member of Green Springs Baptist Church.  She  enjoyed reading, gardening, crafting and singing.  She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Grays Creek #18 Fire Department.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.    She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
