US Army Retired SFC Ernest J. Fountain, Jr., 79, of Raeford, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Ernest spent 20 years in the Army serving two tours in Vietnam, time in Thule, Greenland, the Dominican Republic, and other overseas locations.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rosa Pearl Fountain.
Ernest is survived by a son, Ernest Fountain III and wife Maria; daughter, Joyce Fountain Bethea and husband Terry; sister, Margarett Barton and husband James; 6 grandchildren, Ernest Fountain IV, Shannon Fountain, Eric Fountain, Madison Fountain, Kaitlon Bethea, and Emily Bethea; and 3 great grandchildren, Andrew Fountain, Eric Fountain, and Lori Fountain.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
