John Mumaw

John Robert Mumaw, 87 of Lumber Bridge, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Born February 13, 1935 in Harrisburg, PA, John was the son of the late John and Mildred Mumaw. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Margie Mumaw and sisters, Donna, Audrey, and Sally.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruby Stump and husband Frank of Shelby; daughter, Tina Anderson and husband Michael of Lumber Bridge; son, Jessie Willis of Fayetteville; son, John R. Mumaw II of CA; grandchildren, Nancy Stump, Laura Goodmanson, Frankie Stump, Robert Powell, Gary Powell, Brandon Webster, Megan Weedon, and Drew Webster; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary; brother, Jerry; and a host of other family members and friends.

John served over 20 years in the U.S. Army before retiring in November of 1974 as a Sergeant First Class. During his military career, John was the recipient of numerous awards and medals including the Korean and Vietnam Service Medals, as well as the Purple Heart and Bronze Stars. After retirement, he worked as a security guard for several years at many different locations.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
