Paul Thorn

Paul E Thorn, Sr., 68 of Hope Mills, passed away July 5, 2018, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Boyd and Jane Thorn, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gladys Elaine Paxton Thorn and brother, Edward Ashley Thorn, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Thorn; Children, Paul Thorn, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Pennellville, NY, Cassandra Ternosky and husband Johnny of Elbridge, NY, David Thorn and wife Christen of Solvay, NY, Jonathan Thorn of Baldwinsville, NY, Alyssa Stinger of Hope Mills, NC, and 9 grandchildren.

Mr. Thorn possessed a Master's Degree from Cornell University in Labor Relations. He worked and retired after 33 years from Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing in Volney, NY, and was a prominent union official. He worked at various golf courses, including Gates Four in Fayetteville, NC. Being in various golf leagues, he also enjoyed reading, working outside, and listening to big bands and Jazz music. He was a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. His love of sports included him being an active little league board member and umpire, PTA, coaching girls H.S. softball and umpiring, he was active with Boy Scouts, Musicals, and Choirs.

Private services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made to: Solvay High School, Attn: Melissa, 600 Gertrude Ave., Solvay, NY 13209.
