Rachel Wright Carter

Rachel Wright Carter, 87 of Parkton, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, in her home.

Born January 24, 1936, in Robeson County, Rachel was the daughter of the late Bill and Cordie Wright. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, David Earl Carter and her son-in-law, Sam Lawing.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Taylor and husband Glenn, Nancy Lawing, and James Earl Carter; grandchildren, Melissa Lawing (Billy), Andrew Nystrom, Kimberly Lusignan (Josh), and Glenn Taylor II (Amanda); great grandchildren, Kendall, Lorelei, Hunter, Landon, Hartleigh, Aspen, and Trip; sister, Ann Beavers; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Rachel was a woman of many talents who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing. But above all, she simply loved spending time with her family.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Parkton Baptist Church, 28 S. Fayetteville Street, Parkton, NC 28371 or to a charity of one’s choosing.
