Robert Earl Spann

Robert Earl Spann, 76 of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Born January 6, 1947 in Montgomery, Alabama, Robert is the son of the late John Frank Spann and Lena Hargrove Spann. He is also preceded in death by three siblings, Charles Spann, Janet Spann, and John F. Spann, Jr.

Robert is survived by wife, Susan Spann; daughter, A. Denise Ray; daughter, Cynthia Weaver and husband Bryan; son, Earl Spann, Jr. and wife Lisa; son, John Spann and wife Rita; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Randy Spann; stepmother, Elsie Carnley and husband Mike; and a host of other family members an friends.

Robert honorably served his country for five years in the US Army during Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He later worked range control for civil service until he retired. In his spare time he loved to hunt and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
