Sofia Sakaria

Our beloved mother, Sofia Lafaele Sakaria, passed away at age 58 in Fayetteville, North Carolina on November 17, 2022. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Jean Brunson and son-in-law Matthew Brunson, daughter Sasha Cunningham and son-in-law Larry Cunningham, daughter LaShay Sakaria, and son Samuel Turks and her four adoring grandchildren: Omri, Darius, Omaya, and Omina. Sofia was the youngest of 8 siblings. She is also survived by her older brother and last sibling Vito Sakaria of Luatuanu’u, Samoa, as well as her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Born January 11, 1964, in Asu, Samoa, Sofia appreciated and valued the importance of family and community. Our beloved mother, Sofia was a devoted and doting mother and grandmother. Truly a remarkable woman who was generous, loving, forgiving, selfless, and devout. She made room in her heart for everyone she met. Her brilliant light lit the world around her. Sofia enjoyed music, singing, dancing, playing spades and dominoes. But most of all, Sofia took great pleasure in wearing the title "Nana" to her grandchildren; whom she loved and adored dearly.  She will be treasured and profoundly missed by her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched along the way.

Rest well, Mommy. We will keep you and guard you with the gratitude of our hearts. Loving you always, your fantastic four.
