Vernon Pinkney

Vernon Charles Pinkney, Jr., 89, of Fayetteville, NC, died Monday, January 14, 2019.

Born in Salem, MA, Vernon was the son of the late Helen and Vernon Pinkney. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Barrett; and son-in-law, Thomas Trogdon.

Vernon retired from the U.S. Army as a SFC, after serving over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Pinkney; children, Sheila Lancaster and husband Victor, Charlotte Trogdon, Charles Mack Atchley, Jr., Wayne Atchley, Lori Atchley, and Shari Maness and husband, Leonard; sisters, Ruth Morfis and Edna Pinkney; grandchildren, Brian, Timothy, Matthew, Nicole, Melissa, Kristine, and Lauren, 10 great grandchildren; special nephew, David Barrett; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Vernon will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
