Whinburt Reed

Whinburt Harold "Whimpy" Reed, 79 of Hope Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his residence with family by his side.

Born January 18, 1943 in Lehigh County, PA, Whimpy was the son of the late Whinburt and Betty Reed.

He honorably served over 20 years in the US Army before retiring in July of 1980. During his military career, Whimpy achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and was the recipient of numerous badges and medals including the Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Kim Reed; son, Huy Tran and wife Ut Nguyen; daughter, Tracy Hauke and husband Brett; daughter, Michele Brunson and husband Kevin; daughter, Melissa Thomas and husband Aaron; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Whimpy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
