William Williams

Hope Mills, North Carolina

William "Bill" Zack Williams, 86, of Hope Mills, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in his home surrounded by family.

Raised in Pink Hill, NC, Bill was the son of the late Lewis and Berniece Herring Williams. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shelby Williams; brother, Guy Williams; and great grandson, Easton Jester.

Bill served for over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, including time in Vietnam, before retiring as Staff Sergeant. He was also a member of Cotton United Methodist Church, Lebanon Lodge 391, and Hope Mills Eastern Star Chapter 227.

He was an avid golfer who just loved being outdoors, and enjoyed playing the guitar while singing along.

Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Williams; daughters, Pam Wren (John), Susan Johnson (Drake), and Sharon Peoples (Tim); sisters, Emogene Smith and Carole Heath; brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Williams; grandchildren, Billy and Steven Dunham, Kari Jester, Clinton and Lance Johnson, and Zach Peoples; and great grandchildren, Delaney, Cameron, and Austin Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Cotton United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4514 Mill Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, papa, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
