Clarence Maxwell

Clarence “Cicero” Maxwell, Sr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2021.  Mr. Maxwell was a lifetime member of Green Springs Baptist Church, Parkton, NC and previous member of Cokebury Methodist Church, Stedman, NC.

Mr. Maxwell was born to the late John Robert Maxwell, Sr. and Ada Averitt Maxwell of Cumberland County.  He is preceded by his wife, Peggy Cain Maxwell; sisters, Ida Lancaster, Louise Weeks; brothers, J. R. Maxwell, Jr., James Grey Maxwell, Danny Maxwell, Sr., Charles Maxwell and great-grandson Evan Bain Windham.

Cicero was a lifetime member of the Fayetteville Area Board of Realtors and co-owner of Cicero Maxwell Reality, Fayetteville, NC.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his children, one daughter, Darlene Maxwell Bain and husband Julian; two sons, Clarence C. Maxwell, Jr. and wife Barbara, and Dwayne Maxwell, all of Hope Mills, NC.

He is also survived by his grandchildren,  Michelle Eastwood and husband Micah of Hendersonville, NC, April Kendall and husband Paul, Julie Windham and husband Stan, Blake Maxwell and wife Whitney, all of Hope Mills, NC,  and Samantha Maxwell Dunnavant and husband Robert of Buckingham, VA.   He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Leona, Bethany and Makayla Eastwood of Hendersonville, NC, Garrett Windham, Daniel and Samuel Kendall, Leanne and Andrew Maxwell, all of Hope Mills, NC; step-grandchildren, Robert Hemmingway and wife Summer, Kelsey King and husband Seth,  and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by brothers, Bill and David Maxwell, and sister, Mildred Rice, all of Fayetteville, NC.

Due to SEVERE COVID restrictions, only the family will have a private graveside service at 2:00 pm, on Saturday that will be conducted at Green Springs Baptist Church, Parkton, NC by Rev. Steve Kirk.  He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

The Maxwell family has entrusted the services to Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services, Hope Mills, NC.  In lieu of flowers and food, please make memorials to Green Springs Baptist Church, Senior Citizens or Baptist Men, Parkton, NC or to the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Waccamaw or one’s favorite charity.  Online condolences may be made to www.pinecrestfuneralservice.com.
