In Memory Drake Emanuel Johnson

Drake Emanuel Johnson, 63 of Hope Mills, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021.  Born in Hope Mills, NC, Drake was the son of Allen and Gerlene Johnson. Drake was preceded  in death by his mother, Gerlene and grandson, Easton Jester.

Drake was a graduate of South View High School, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at UNC Chapel Hill, and Masters Degree - Advanced Study in School Psychology at  East Carolina University. Drake retired after 30+ years as a School Psychologist in the Davidson and Cumberland County School systems.

Drake is survived by his wife Susan Williams Johnson; daughter, Kari Johnson Jester and husband Brock; sons, Clinton Drake Johnson and wife Amanda; Lance Kestrel Johnson and  wife Natalie; father, Allen Johnson; brother, Rex Johnson and wife Debbie; brother, Todd Johnson; granddaughters, Delaney Johnson and Lennox Jester; and grandsons, Cameron and Austin Johnson.

Drake was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who had a passion for  studying classical music and opera. Drake’s hobbies included birdwatching, tennis, golf, and he was a loving pet owner to the many cats and dogs he had over his lifetime.

The family will host a private memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, his family asks that a tree be planted in his memory or a donation be made to a local animal shelter.
