James Coates

James Matthew Coates, 36 of Fayetteville, passed away May 3, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1984 in Wake County, James is the son of Brenda Hewett Todd and the late Daniel Cleveland Coates.  He is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Joyce Hewitt;  paternal grandmother, Eula Mae Coates; a sister, Katina Soles; and nieces, Emily and Danielle Coates.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Todd and husband James; a sister, Brandy Coates and husband Tyrone Woodard; three brothers, John Coates and wife Jennifer, Daniel Coates, Jr., and Jamie Coates;  step-brother, James Weeks; nieces, Amaya Coates, Alayla Woodard, Kayleigh Coates, Cadence Coates, Brooklyn Coates, Emma Coates, Kaylee Coates; nephews, Braydn Woodard, Zack Edens, Russell Edens, and Tyler Coates.

James enjoyed fishing and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football.  He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the funeral home.
