John Thomas Hottel

August 8, 1952 ~ December 16, 2020 (age 68)


Johnny “John” Thomas Hottel, age 68 of Fayetteville, died at home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. 

Born in Cumberland County  John is the son of the late Charles Thomas and and Betty Nell Faucette Hottel. He was also preceded in death by his  his grandparents, Lonzie and Nellie Faucette and John and Marguerite Hottel. 

He is survived by his wife, Diane Deering Hottel, his great love God gave him who cared for him at home until his passing; his son, Jason Hottel of Myrtle Beach, SC; his daughter, Jenna Hottel of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Joanne Babyak (Rick) of Oviedo, FL and Joy Warren of White Lake; a brother, Jay Hottel (Laura) of Eastover; his former wife and friend, Leigh Hottel of Myrtle Beach, SC; step-son Tommy Deering (Vanessa) and their children Cameron and Lauren; brother-in-law Johnny Henson; nephews, Jordan Hottel, Brett Babyak, Jamie Warren, Martin Hottel, Victor Hottel and Andrew Townsend; and nieces, Cameron Watson, Jessica Johnson, and Julia Pope.

John was a people person and never met a stranger.  His love of Jesus was very evident in his daily walk and he shared his faith with others without hesitation. His spirit of generosity, hospitality, and service to his church and community will be missed.  John’s sense of humor and love of life will always live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills.  Due to COVID the funeral will not be open to the public, but will be streamed live on Facebook on his daughter Jenna Leigh Hottel’s page.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breezewood Church, 3337 Legion Rd, Hope Mills, NC 28348 or to Fayetteville Area Youth for Christ, 1112 Hope Mills Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
