Obituary

Maurice “Bucky” Allender, Jr., 53 of Hope Mills, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022.

Born October 11, 1968, Bucky is the son of the late Maurice Allender, Sr. and Mary Allender. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Allender.

Bucky was a firefighter with the Cotton Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years, as well as the Pearce’s Mill Fire Department for 19 years before retiring from the department in 2017. He was currently working as a truck driver with Highland Paving.

He is survived by his son, Bruce Woolard and his wife Sabrina; his grandson, Wyatt Woolard and another grandchild he was expecting in August; his sister, Leala Cliburn of Mississippi; several nieces and cousins; and a host of other family and friends. 

Bucky was a loving father and “paw paw” who was known for his loyalty and heart of gold. Family bonds were not always blood related, but if he considered you family, then you were family for life. He was always helping others whenever he could.

The family will be receiving family and friends at the Woolard family home located at 4905 Hemlock Circle, Hope Mills, NC 28348.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in honor of Bucky be made to the NC Fallen Firefighters Foundation or to the American Cancer Society. Contact information can can be found below.
