Sam was preceded in death by his father, Robert Samuel (Bobby) Lawing II; his sister Jenny Parker, his nephew, Steven Parker, and his cousin, Brady Barbour.

Sam enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and family.  He was an avid “UNC Tarheel” and “Green Bay Packers” fan.  He also enjoyed fishing and wood working in his shop.  Sam especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball.
