She worked many years at Western Publishing prior to their closing.  After she went on to work at Breezewood Child Care, where she quickly became grandma to many children.  In her later years she worked for the Cumberland County Sherriff's Office as a traffic control officer, that job was the highlight of her working career.

Shirley spent over 25 years making memories with her best friend Flora Lee, making many Walmart trips and eating weekly at Rainbow Restaurant.  After all those years together, they are now reunited.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Joyce Dunlap and Marie Suggs for always being there when the family couldn't be.
